1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Messiah Yahushua (Jesus Christ) the righteous.
Although the term "saved sinner" can be a bit misleading, it is acceptable because it acknowledges how followers of Christ still stumble in many ways (James 3:2). In the eyes of our Creator, a person does not remain a sinner after salvation (Romans 8:1). The New Testament teaches that when someone is saved, they become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). This means that their identity is transformed from being a sinner to being a saint.
While followers of Christ may still commit sins, these actions do not define their identity. Instead, they are defined by the righteousness of Christ that has been imparted to them (2 Corinthians 5:21). The Apostle Paul, for example, referred to himself as the "chief of sinners" in 1 Timothy 1:15, but he was speaking about his past before he encountered Christ. After his conversion, he was a new person, a saint who sometimes sinned.
It's important to understand that as believers, we are forgiven once for all through the finished work of Messiah Yahushua (Jesus Christ) at Calvary (Hebrews 10:14). Our sins—past, present, and future—are forgiven, and we are in perfect union with Christ. This means we are not defined by our sins but by our new identity in Him. We are saints who sometimes sin, but our core identity is that of a child of YAH, holy and blameless in His sight (Ephesians 1:4).
